The MGM Grand Detroit casino resort officially opened on October 3, 2007, although there had been a temporary casino open since July 1999. The lavish property boasts 100,000 square feet of gaming space with almost 4000 slots and video poker machines, 90 table games, and a poker room. The resort includes the MGM Grand Hotel which features a spa and upscale shopping mall among other amenities. This was the first Las Vegas-style casino in Michigan and the first luxury casino resort hotel in a major metropolis outside of Las Vegas.
There are plenty of upscale, casual, and quick bite dining options including two restaurants by Wolfgang Puck. The hotel has a full-featured spa, a health club, and an indoor pool. Visitors will find free high-speed internet in public areas. All of the 400 guestrooms are air-conditioned, the private showers in the rooms feature rainfalls showerheads and televisions.
